UPDATE: 14 May 2022. Like buses arriving four at a time we have updated our proposal for the introduction mandatory reporting of child sexual abuse for the fourth time is as many months. This latest draft differs in one respect to its predecessor. Reluctantly we have removed vulnerable adults from our legislative proposal. In summary our final version mandates prescribed personnel who work in ‘Regulated Activities’ to report known and suspected child sexual abuse to specified agencies. Protection against ‘detriment’ for mandated reporters is of course retained.
For the assistance of readers, here is a fast track link to our submission to the ‘Reporting and acting on child abuse and neglect’ (2016) consultation which includes our original legislative proposals, a forerunner of which assisted Baroness Walmsley secure the consultation.
